2020 Is Almost Over! Time For A New Bullet Journal

2020 Is Almost Over

Good morning my Lovely Lilies,

Well, this is it! Today is my last day as a smoker (I pray). I’ve done my footwork and gotten everything in order as far as the business and housework goes, so tomorrow, I start my journey to being a healthier me, and to be honest, I’m pretty stoked. I mean, yes, I’m scared and I’m nervous. I’ve been a smoker for so long that figuring out how to do things without smoking is going to be a challenge, but, I’m up to it. And even if I’m not, I know that Grandfather is. So, I’ll be doing a smudge tonight, and saying my prayers and I’ll go to bed with full faith in Great Spirit that what I can’t handle, He can.

And since this phase of my life is ending just as this strangest weird year is ending, it’s about time to start a bullet journal – a new one that is.

I got into bullet journaling back in 2016 after seeing the term everywhere and not knowing exactly what it was. I started watching YouTube videos and came across Ryder Carrol’s channel.

For those of you that don’t know, he’s the brilliant fellow that came up with the base concept of bullet journaling. The concept is to have a quick way to jot down important notes, events, and actions for your day. Of course, me being the #plannerholic that I have been all of my life, this greatly intrigued me! I’d even gone so far as to buy an A5 three-ring binder and spent almost a month in Photoshop and Word to create a planner that I thought would work for me. But, as I watched the bullet journal videos and checked out the images on Instagram, I realized I’d like to try this method instead.

That was almost five years ago and I still use a bujo, but as with so many other things, I sort of just stopped mid-2019, when everything fell apart. So, now it’s time to pick it up again.

This time though, I really don’t want a fancy journal, or to have tons of drawings and colors and collections. I really want something clean, minimalist, streamlined, and fast functionality.  I’m the type of person that sort of loves chasing rabbits down holes and I know if I get started worrying about decorating my journal, I’ll never really start using it.

I’ve had several types of journals over the years – from an inexpensive one my daughter got me from Amazon to a beautiful pink Leuchtturm1917 – which is apparently like the Rolls Royce of bujos. To be honest, the one I like the most costs under $7, has an index, two bookmarks, an elastic strap closure, and a pocket in the back, and can be bought at Michaels.

I like it most of all because it’s so affordable, it opens to lay flat for easily working in, and it’s got the type of white pages and dots that don’t make my eyes strain.

No, this isn’t an ad LOL. Sorry.

So, this afternoon or tomorrow morning I’ll be headed to Michaels to get a journal and then I’ll work on setting up the layout that I want.

In the meantime, I’ll be taking a look at Minimalist Bullet Journal inspiration on Pinterest.

Have a fantastic weekend my lovelies!

Until next time,
